The nitty-gritty of customization Here’s how it works: voltage changes everything about how we wind the filament and pick the glass envelope. A 110V lamp needs a totally different resistance profile than a 575V tube to hit the same heat level. If you try to wing it and run a lamp on the wrong voltage, one of two things happens. Either you get no heat at all, or you watch the filament burn out in a matter of seconds. It’s a mess. That’s why we customize the internal ohms for you. You can wire the lamp straight into your local grid. No need for those massive, clunky step-down transformers that eat up all your floor space. Dealing with thermal stress We stick with borosilicate glass because it’s tough. It handles the “shock” of rapid heating and cooling way better than standard quartz. It won’t warp or snap when things get hot fast. But a quick heads-up: higher voltage tubes tend to concentrate more heat right around the filament. Just make sure your housing and reflectors are lined up perfectly. You don’t want any hotspots on the glass, or you’re asking for trouble. Making it all fit together We offer different lengths and connectors so these can be drop-in replacements for the rigs you already have. Simple. Plus, going with 480V or 575V actually helps with your current draw. This means you can use thinner wiring for your runs, which makes the install a lot easier. Just be careful with the connections.
