Power, Voltage, and the Reality of Long Runs
When the lamp stretches past 3 meters, you can’t just guess at power and voltage. We match the setup to the heat demand and your plant’s electrical system. Often we go high-voltage—think 400V. That keeps current lower, which means smaller cables and less energy lost as heat over long runs. Wattage is scaled so the whole active length hits the target temperature, not just the center. Because in practice, the edges are just as important as the middle. Length itself changes the game. The longer the element, the more you need tight temperature control and solid mechanical support. So we design the element geometry, spacing, and reflector shape to give the glass consistent irradiance from start to finish.
The Materials That Make It Feel Reliable
We use quartz envelopes because they respond fast and stay stable at high temperatures. No lag. No drama. The infrared coating is chosen to shape the spectral output, so energy gets absorbed by the glass and the Low-E coating—not wasted heating the air and surroundings. For terminations, we stick with industrial connectors that can handle high current and repeated heating and cooling. R7s and Sk15 styles give you secure contact and straightforward mounting, so wiring is cleaner and swapping a lamp on the line is quicker.
What It Feels Like on the Annealing Line
On the annealing line, these long infrared units give you a heat source that’s compact and clean. One unit can replace multiple shorter heaters. The footprint shrinks, and control gets simpler because you’re managing one continuous zone instead of juggling several. But here’s the part you plan for: thermal density. High output over a long length means the surrounding fixtures and cooling have to be properly sized. Set up enough airflow and shielding, and the lamp runs stable while the electronics stay within safe temperature limits.
