Making it “Smart”
Connecting these to a smart home doesn’t have to be a headache. We usually use a relay-based interface or a Zigbee/Matter controller. Here is how it works in plain English: your smart hub sends a tiny, low-voltage signal to a heavy-duty contactor. That contactor acts like a big switch, closing the circuit to let the high-wattage power flow into the heater. A Few Things to Keep in Mind
There are a couple of catches you should know about. First, these things pull a lot of power. If you’re putting up four or five units on one circuit, you’re probably going to trip your breakers. Double-check your electrical panel to make sure it can handle the peak draw before you start drilling holes. Also, while the internals are waterproof, the outer glass tube is still glass. It’s fragile. If you’re installing these in a spot where people are walking by or kids are playing, go with a recessed mount or a protective cage.
